 David Amess ushered in the Year of the Dragon with a bang at glitzy reception aimed at promoting Hong Kong. Treated to stunning performances from piano prodigy Aristo Sham and violinist Sebastian See-Schierenberg, as well as the more traditional Chinese Dragon, the well attended evening carried a constant theme of ‘East Meets West’.

  David Amess MP has pledged his support for Fair Havens Hospice in their quest to find a new location. With a mere capacity of ten rooms, the current hospice as it stands is not nearly big enough to cope with the increasing demand that it is facing, meaning potential beneficiaries are turned away. The current site is also becoming increasingly outdated and impractical.

 David Amess MP returned to see the fruits of his work yesterday, as he was treated to a tour of the Olympic Park in Stratford. Mr Amess, who chaired the Olympic Games Bill, saw firsthand how work was progressing in the final push before the games arrive in July. Having visited the Park once before last year, he was delighted to learn that construction was due to be completed on time and on budget, and was impressed by such venues as the velodrome and the stadium itself.

Seen as a key part of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, ‘Arts in Parliament’ aims to work with professional artists and organisations to present a unique programme of performances and events inspired by the values of the 2012 Games.
