David Amess ushered in the Year of the Dragon with a bang at glitzy reception aimed at promoting Hong Kong. Treated to stunning performances from piano prodigy Aristo Sham and violinist Sebastian See-Schierenberg, as well as the more traditional Chinese Dragon, the well attended evening carried a constant theme of ‘East Meets West’.
As one of the world’s leading financial centres, Hong Kong has proved resilient during the recession, and attracts investors and businesses from all over the world. It provides enjoys a symbiotic relationship between East and West; historic links to Britain, whilst also providing a vital gateway to the emerging economy on the Chinese mainland.
But this event had another message; showing that Honk Kong has far more to offer than simply banks and high rise skyscrapers. Spectacular beaches and countryside are all to be found, and with nine flights daily from London, enjoying this wonderful city, the embodiment of East meets West, could not be easier.
