 A pilot scheme to bring back driving test centres to Southend moved one step closer to being given the green light after a visit from the Minister. Mike Penning, Minster of State for Transport, visited the area to discuss his pilot scheme of mobile test centres, which could be set to replace the current ‘fixed’ regional centres.

 It was not your usual political discussion, but David Amess MP had the chance to engage with some sixth form students at a special ‘political’ speed dating event. Designed to capture the A-level politics student’s imaginations, the speed dating gave them the chance with three MPS and three peers about their work, motivation and political philosophy.

 David Amess MP learnt yesterday how many of Britain’s leading retailers are working towards improving their sustainability at an event in Parliament.

 David Amess MP yesterday attended a Parliamentary reception marking the 30th anniversary of the Raynaud’s and Scleroderma Association. Founded in 1982, this long standing charity aims to provide educational and emotional support for people with Raynaud’s and Scleroderma and their families.

 David Amess MP has written to all head teachers in Southend West encouraging their school councils to submit an application to the Speaker’s School Council Awards.

 David Amess MP has pledged his support to the national charity Beating Bowel Cancer, to help save lives from the UK’s second biggest cancer killer.
