St Peters Church held their Christmas Bazaar on Sunday 2nd December, with various stalls, stands and activities on offer. There was certainly a Christmas feel in the air with tinsel adorning the walls of the hall and the smell of mince pies wafting through the air.

Southend Festival Chorus Concert was in fine voice last Sunday as they performed to a very entertained and impressed audience, which included local MP David Amess. The concert was held in Highlands Methodist Church which reverberated with the sweet sound of singing!

Father Christmas, the Mayor and local MP David Amess helped to brighten the streets of Leigh after arriving on a sleigh. Despite the cold weather there was a warm and celebratory feeling as residents of Leigh looked forward to Christmas.

Kingsdown School received a visit from local MP David Amess last Friday, who was unsurprisingly very impressed by everything they do. Kingsdown School is a Community Special School for children with special needs, aged between 3 and 14. Students thrive in the community that celebrates their success and it was clear to Mr Amess that the students enjoyed the school atmosphere:

A very special carol service will be taking place this Sunday at Chalkwell Park Methodist Church. Local MP David Amess will be in attendance, as will Mayor Sally Carr. The service will start at 10:45 and finish at 12:45. The animal welfare organisation of which Mr Amess is a patron, ‘Just One Dog’, will be selling Christmas Cards. All pets are welcome and no doubt many different creatures will be in attendance.

Last Wednesday, David Amess met with Gary Herbert of Post Office Ltd. who, in his own words, brought rare good news from the Post Office to the people of Southend West and David Amess. Firstly, the Post Office currently at Prince Avenue will be moving a few hundred meters to Eastborne Grove, which should improve both opening hours and the services offered.

The Giving Deams Foundation held their Gala Ball at The Boatyard Restaurant on 9th November and it turned out to be a great success. The Giving Dreams Foundation helps children with life-threatening or terminal illness ‘by providing them with their dreams or wishes’.
