 Local MP David Amess invites you to a concert for the Mayor of Southend's Charity Fund on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August. It will feature musical talent from local performers, including soloists, duets and group performances.

 

The concert begins at 6:00 pm at the Priory, Prittlewell Park.

 David Amess MP joined other prominent figures from across Essex to celebrate a special exhibition in the Palace of Westminster. Commissioned by Essex County Council, ‘Journey to the Podium’ celebrated talented athletes from Essex who have been identified as having Olympic Potential. Work displayed included that of David’s own constituent Dave Shields, as well as other local talent.

 Not even traditional bank holiday rain could dampen spirits as the ‘Proms in Priory Park’ proved a huge success. With performances from some of Southend’s best local talent, many prominent local figures were in attendance. The Proms raised approximately £800 for the Mayors Charity Fund. The audience was treated to performances from Elizabeth Upsher and Elizabeth Dunlop, David Stanley, Wendy Headford, Rosemary Pennington, Kelly Spiers and Samantha Dench.

 At Boyton Hall Farm, hundreds of Scout’s leapt into action, taking part in an International Jamboree which was enjoyed by all. Many different types of sweets – presumably all homemade – were sold and enjoyed, and flags from different countries could be seen. Dance routines were performed and other fairground attractions, including a suitably scary rotating chair, also provided entertainment.

On Saturday 14th  July, David Amess MP was wowed at the Pop and Rock for Africa Concert. The concert brought together many different genres of music as well a vast array of exceptionally talented musicians at the Southend Plaza. Music genres ranged from pop to rock, including a grand piano, enabling all tastes to be catered for.

 On Tuesday night, David Amess MP called on the Government to publish their delayed National Liver Disease Strategy. 

 

Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Amess, who is Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Hepatology, said:

 

“The Government need to publish a robust liver strategy soon. Liver disease is a huge problem, but it is largely preventable.
