The Mughal Dynasty has been chosen to represent Southend West as one of the 12 national finalists in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition.  The Grand Final of the Lyca Tiffin Cup 2011 is to be held in the House of Commons on Wednesday the 6th July 2011.  The competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

 

gjhfgjhhLocal Musician, Benjamin Grosvenor, Becomes Youngest Ever Soloist to Perform at First Night of the Proms

Benjamin Grosvenor, a 19 year old local musician, became the youngest ever soloist to perform the First Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday.  The young pianist has been widely touted as one of the best up-and-coming pianinsts in the country and has just signed a record deal with Decca Records.  Such was the excitement surrounding the performance the queues for standing room had been snaking hundreds of yards down the street.

David Amess took time out for a special Strawberry Tea party in the House of Commons on Tuesday 14 June.

Arranged by Breast Cancer Care, the event was a chance for David to find out more about the charity’s work supporting people affected by breast cancer and the issues that are important to the 50,000 people diagnosed with the disease each year.

Gok Wan has unveiled the latest stage in his efforts to lobby Parliament over body confidence lessons at school at a receptionin the Houses of Parliament.  In his new series coming to Channel 4 this summer, Gok is reigniting his commitment to get teenagers the help and support they need to deal with personal issues through body confidence lessons in school.
