Back British Farming Day took place on Wednesday 13 September and gave Sir David the opportunity to highlight the importance of farmers in the UK. The Southend West MP wore a wheat pin badge in support of the event organised by the National Farmers Union.
At 12:00 on Monday 21st August, Big Ben sounded it's bells for the last time for the next 4 years. Thousands gathered in Westminster to see and hear the last chimes of Big Ben before vital construction work begins on the Elizabeth Tower.
Big Ben's famous chimes will fall silent on midday next Monday until 2021 to allow essential repair works to take place. The Elizabeth Clock Tower, where the bells are housed, will undergo major restoration work.
On Thursday 13th July, Sir David Amess MP asked the Leader of the House of Commons, Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom MP, for a debate on the laws surrounding illegal caravanning sites during Business of the House questions.
