On Wednesday 15 September, Sir David Amess attended the Catch Up With Cancer event to discuss how the cancer crisis is still unsolved. With the Coronavirus pandemic causing backlogs in the health system, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure we prioritise early detection and specialised treatment.
The United Kingdom needs a Covid secure cancer service going forward. Sir David listened to health experts discuss how new technology can put our country at the forefront of research and cancer treatment.
Sir David said “cancer has always been a serious health issue, but it has been made worse by the pandemic due to strains on the NHS. Events like these are good ways to raise awareness of the health problems we face as a country, and more attention should be paid to early detection and research”.
