Sir David Amess visited two local schools, Darlinghurst Academy and Belfairs Academy, on Monday 19 July. The CEOs and Principals showed Sir David around the schools as they spoke about how the children have been coping through the Coronavirus pandemic.
Sir David has been in regular contact with the local schools in Southend throughout the lockdowns and has been a point of contact for the schools to raise their concerns and issues with the Government about virtual teaching.
After the visits, Sir David said “it was brilliant to visit both Darlinghurst and Belfairs Academy and look around their wonderful grounds and facilities. Teachers and all school staff have been truly selfless throughout the pandemic continuing to give our children the vital education they need. I thank you for all the hard work you have been doing in exceptionally difficult circumstances”.
