On Wednesday 7 July, Sir David Amess pledged his support to encourage businesses to be environmentally responsible. Having hosted the G7 Summit in Cornwall this year and the COP26 taking place in Glasgow in November, the United Kingdom has an international responsibility to tackle climate change.
Businesses have a crucial role to play in our country’s environment goals and can help by cutting their own emissions. The Government, business owners and climate groups are urging as many UK small businesses as possible to make their own formal commitment to net zero over the next six months.
Sir David Amess commented:
I am pleased that the Government is taking proactive action to tackle climate change and cut carbon emissions. Working directly with small businesses and climate organisations is a brilliant way to reduce our harmful impact on this planet. I do hope our many local businesses in Southend will join this campaign to protect our environment.
