On Saturday 11 September, Sir David Amess, Member of Parliament for Southend West, attended the Secret Sea Shanty Festival in Old Leigh.

The festival is part of the Southend Arts Festival and featured local musical talent with live performances.

After the event, Sir David said “Southend boasts such a diverse and talented arts and culture sector, and it was wonderful to see so many performers in Old Leigh. There was a real sense of community spirit by all as we can once again enjoy live music together”.
