On Friday 11 December, Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, will be attending a number of socially distanced events in the constituency to celebrate Christmas.
Each year Sir David carries out various visits in the lead up to Christmas to recognise the invaluable efforts of organisations, services and charities in Southend West. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic this year’s festivities will be slightly different and Sir David will be holding a socially distanced event outside where local groups have been invited to attend. Alongside the Mayor of Southend, Cllr John Lamb, he will meet representatives from Southend Hospital, Essex Police, HARP, Haven’s Hospice, the Salvation Army and the Fire and Ambulance service to thank them for their hard work throughout the pandemic.
Sir David will also be in attendance at the Christmas lights switch on at the Woodcutters Arms, the Civic Centre, Southend West Conservative Association and Cooper Lingard in Leigh-on-Sea.
Commenting Sir David said “This has been an incredibly difficult year for everyone, and I am very much looking forward to joining in with the festivities, albeit in a different way. Our local organisations have done fantastic work this year in especially hard circumstances and we all owe them a debt of gratitude. I do wish everyone a happy Christmas and a much better new year.”
