Dyslexia affects an estimated ten per cent of the population and, on Tuesday 20th February, Sir David joined the British Dyslexia Association to raise awareness of the condition.
The MP for Southend West met with charity representatives and sufferers as part of the Cappuccino Challenge. He also learnt more about the new mnemonic crib sheet which is being used to support people with dyslexia.
Sir David, who suffered with dyslexia at school, commented: “Dyslexia is a condition which many people are aware of. However, not many people appreciate that dyslexia is much more than poor spelling. We need to do more to challenge the stereotypes of dyslexia.”
