Sir David joined a number of his parliamentary colleagues for the launch of the 2nd Impact Report for the Buy Social Corporate Challenge in Parliament on Wednesday 18 April.
The MP for Southend West was keen to hear from the initiative’s leaders about what has been achieved so far and to discuss plans for the future.
The Year 2 Impact Report looks into the impact of the first two years of the Buy Social Corporate Challenge. So far just over £45 million has been spent by corporate partners and the Challenge has directly or indirectly created 329 jobs at social enterprises. Through corporate contracts social enterprises have been able to reinvest £2.98 million into their social missions.
The report also looks at company's opinions of working with social enterprises, finding that all partners believe that they deliver goods and services at the same of better quality as traditional suppliers.
