David Amess MP plans to host an Alternative City of Culture in Southend in 2017 and this week recieved a 'Brucey Bonus,' with an endorsement from Sir Bruce Forsyth, entertainment and broadcasting legend. The host of Strictly Come Dancing sent Mr Amess a letter in which he wished Southend-on-Sea "all the luck in the world"; reminiscing how he used to go to Southend every Sunday and enjoy the "savaloy sausages and pease pudding".
Mr Amess, a long-standing friend of Sir Bruce, commented, "This really does show what an exciting year 2017 is going to be. We have the backing of a cultural icon. We shall have to ask Sir Bruce down to host an event or two!"
