David Amess MP gave a speech on Sunday as part of a ceremony to mark 110 years of the Salvation Army in Leigh on Sea. Praising the efforts of this highly valued institution, Mr Amess commented on how the Salvation Army has provided stability for the community of Leigh over the past century and more, despite the world around it changing beyond recognition. Praising how the institution has always remained true to its core values, Mr Amess continually returned to William Booth’s famous motto: ‘Blood and Fire’, reiterating how this has helped guide the Salvation Army throughout the years.
Mr Amess would like to repeat his thanks, on behalf of the people of Leigh on Sea, for the amazing work that the Salvation Army has done, and continues to do. He has no doubt that in another 110 years, despite the unpredictability of the world, the Salvation Army will still be going strong.
