The Bengali’s Pride Awards were held in Parliament on the evening of Wednesday 6 June. The awards recognised and honoured the achievements of the Bengali diaspora in the UK as well as the Bengali communities in India and Bangladesh.
This year marked the inception year of the awards, which were organised by Asian Business Publications. Sir David Amess MP presented a number of the awards to their recipients who were celebrated for excelling in the professions, politics, education, the arts, healthcare, business and much more.
Speaking at the event, the MP for Southend West congratulated those who were recognised for their wonderful achievements and also thanked the Bengali community in the UK for their great contributions to society since the Second World War.
During his speech, Sir David read out a letter from the Prime Minister in support of the occasion, which was the inaugural awards ceremony.
