This year marks the twentieth anniversary of David Amess MP’s historic victory in Basildon. On the 9th of April 1992, Mr Amess retained his seat against overwhelming odds, and in the process revealed to the world that the Conservatives would be staying in power. Even today, this event is referred to as a sign that John Major would be re elected. To mark the occasion, Mr Amess will be producing a booklet ‘Against the Odds’ which will give an intimate account of that momentous election.
