David Amess MP attended Armed Forces Day last weekend, which as it turned out spread across more than one day. On Friday 28th there was a Camo Day in Chalkwell Park, with a schools rugby tournament, a demo from the British Military Martial Arts Displays, a special appearance by Rossi’s Ice Cream and much more.
Saturday saw proceedings move to Southend Town Centre, with a whole host of events and demonstrations on offer. Military vehicles were on show, as were the Royal Engineers, Essex Farmers Market, the Air Cadet Band and various comedians and musicians. Sunday saw a bike rally, brew up, and rugby tournament on the beach.
Commenting on the celebrations, Mr Amess stated, “The celebrations, across the whole weekend, were a lot of fun. It is right and good to celebrate our armed forces. They deserve a huge amount of credit for all they do, and they have our gratitude in Southend.”
