Southend West MP David Amess supported the launch of Anglian Water’s “Love Every Drop” manifesto at an event in Parliament on Tuesday (15th February). Mr. Amess heard how the water company for the East of England will put water sustainability at the heart of wider efforts to tackle climate change.
A radical change is necessary to meet this and Anglian Water has set over 100 sustainability commitments pledging to eliminate waste, accidents and pollution and halve carbon use by 2015.
Support for the manifesto comes at a time when the government is reviewing utilities regulation and the chief scientific adviser made it clear that a more joined-up response is needed.
David said: “it is refreshing to see a utility company stepping up and taking action to tackle climate change, which is a huge threat to the East of England. Actions like Love Every Drop are vital in securing a sustainable future for all.”
