Both Westcliff High School for Girls Academy Grammar School and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary have achieved remarkable academic success, one being recognised by the Department for Education for outstanding GCSE Results, and the other for Key Stage 2 results.
Westcliff High School for Girls has achieved the second best GCSE results in the Country and 93% of Our Lady of Lourdes students are achieving Level 4 or above in writing, reading or maths (2013).
Mr Amess said, “These record breaking achievements are credited to the amazing teachers seen across Southend; teachers who are committed to their schools and their students.” He continued, “But this is also an example of student aspiration and students’ willingness to work hard, and I am proud of how schools have been working to motivate their students. The determined leadership of Head Teachers and their dedicated teaching staff means Southend is becoming a beacon of academic excellence.”
