67th Annual Service of Remembrance

Annual Service of Remembrance organised by The Royal British Legion

Sir David attended the Annual Service of Remembrance at The Parish Church of St Clement’s in Leigh-on-Sea on 13th November 2016. The service was organised by the Leigh-on-Sea branch of The Royal British Legion to honour all those who have given their lives in the service of their country. Sir David was honoured to be asked to read ‘The Soldier’ by Rupert Brooke as part of the service. The ceremony which took place in the afternoon was attended by ex-servicemen and women as well as war widows. After the church service there was a parade to Leigh Community Centre in Elm Road which included taking the salute with the Mayor of Southend outside Leigh Police Station.
