Maud Amess, mother of Southend West MP David Amess, celebrated her 101st Birthday last Thursday in her East London home. Maud Amess was one of eleven children and has lived in East London her entire life. She was a member of the Land Army during World War Two, which earned her a visit to Downing Street in 2008 to receive a commemorative badge. Last week Mr David Amess MP asked the Prime Minister if he would bring the EU Referendum forward in order to enable Maud to vote, a request which is looking increasingly likely to be granted.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr Amess stated, “She is the best mother in the world. My sister and I are very proud of her and I have much to thank her for.”
