Students put on performance of Ghost the Musical

Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, attended a performance of Ghost the Musical at Westcliff High School for Girls on Friday 10th March. Put on by students at the school, the audience were treated to an outstanding show based on the hit 1990 film of the same name.

Local MP visits Leigh-on-Sea Police Station

On Friday 10th March, Southend West MP, Sir David Amess, visited Leigh-on-Sea Police Station to show his support for local law enforcement. While the station is no longer operational, it is still used as a work base for officers.

New Filipino Ambassador presents credentials to the Queen

Antonio Lagdameo, the new Philippine Ambassador to the UK presented his credentials to the Queen on Wednesday 8th March. Sir David attended Mr Lagdameo’s Vin d’Honneur afterwards to show his support for the new ambassador and the Filipino community.

Sir David meets with new Ambassador to the Philippines

Sir David recently met with the new Philippine Ambassador to the UK, Antonio Lagdameo. The former political envoy was nominated by President Rodrigo Duterte to serve as the country’s ambassador to the United Kingdom replacing Evan Garcia.

IPT celebrates 40th anniversary

The Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT) celebrated its 40th anniversary on Monday 6th March with a dinner for its members.

Local MP visits Lancaster School

Sir David visited Lancaster School in Westcliff on Monday 6th March to see the students hard at work in school. The MP for Southend West was accompanied by Southend Councillors Meg Davidson and David Garston while being given a tour around the school by Headteacher Melanie Hall.

Sir David visits Chase High School

On Monday 6th March Sir David Amess visited Chase High School in Westcliff alongside local councillors Meg Davidson and David Garston. During their visit they met with the school’s Oxfam Youth Ambassadors and Student Voice Group as well as Headteacher Andrew James. 

Southend YMCA hold annual Sleepeasy event

Volunteers slept on the streets in the cold and wet on Saturday 4th March in order to raise money for the Southend YMCA to kick-start the development of a new Children’s Home in Southend.
