On Friday 18th October, Southend West MP Sir David Amess joined with local dignitaries, including the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, to open a new charity shop on Rayleigh Road.

On Wednesday 16th October Sir David Amess attended an event hosted by Mims Davies, MP for Eastleigh celebrating the crucial work of independent lifeboats.

Foreign Secretary addresses local Conservatives

Following an invite from Sir David Amess, Foreign Secretary The Rt Hon Dominic Raab MP visited Southend on Thursday 17th October to address local Conservative supporters at the Southend West Conservative Association Annual Dinner. 

Sir David asks International Trade question

In recent months, Southend has welcomed a number of Ambassadors. Following invitations from Sir David Amess MP, representatives of Taiwan and the Philippines have already visited the town with further visits from the Thai and Indian Ambassadors planned in the coming months.  

Southend MP marks canonisation of English Cardinal

Sir David Amess, along with a delegation of MPs, joined the Prince of Wales to attend the canonisation of Cardinal Newman at an open-air service in Rome. The ceremony was led by Pope Francis and took place at the Vatican on Sunday 13th October.

Southend MP speaks in Queen’s Speech debate

On Monday, 14th October, the Queen formally opened the new Parliamentary session. Following the longest session since the English Civil War, Members of Parliament from all political parties were keen to see the Government set out a fresh domestic agenda.
