Sir David Amess MP celebrated the launch of a newly published poetry book by Essex resident Sue Lesser. At the launch, on Sunday 18th November, the book was revealed and sold in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Sir David Amess MP backs calls for Traveller site law review

The Southend West MP has sponsored a Bill in Parliament that would make major changes to planning laws related to Traveller sites. The Bill is being brought forward by Andrew Selous, the MP for South West Bedfordshire, and Sir David was keen to back its progress through the House of Commons.

MP calls on Government to review business rates for ‘Meanwhile’ Leases

On Thursday 15th November, Sir David Amess MP raised with the Leader of the House of Commons the issue of ‘meanwhile leases’ and businesses rates. Many voluntary and charitable groups use these leases to take up temporarily vacant business properties, but may still face full business rates.

On Tuesday 13th November, the Southend West MP joined actors Jim Carter and Nichola McAuliffe to back a campaign that will enable more terminally ill people to access benefits more quickly and easily, regardless of the condition they have.

Sir David Amess MP joined the Woodland Trust to celebrate the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy at a parliamentary reception. The MP joined colleagues on Monday 12th November, to show his support for the worldwide initiative to preserve and enhance forests across the Commonwealth.
