Local MP visits Lancaster School

Sir David visited Lancaster School in Westcliff on Monday 6th March to see the students hard at work in school. The MP for Southend West was accompanied by Southend Councillors Meg Davidson and David Garston while being given a tour around the school by Headteacher Melanie Hall.

Sir David visits Chase High School

On Monday 6th March Sir David Amess visited Chase High School in Westcliff alongside local councillors Meg Davidson and David Garston. During their visit they met with the school’s Oxfam Youth Ambassadors and Student Voice Group as well as Headteacher Andrew James. 

Southend YMCA hold annual Sleepeasy event

Volunteers slept on the streets in the cold and wet on Saturday 4th March in order to raise money for the Southend YMCA to kick-start the development of a new Children’s Home in Southend.

The Great British Spring Clean comes to Southend

Sir David Amess joined forces with Cllr Meg Davidson on Saturday 4th March to take part in The Great British Spring Clean. The MP for Southend West helped the Prittle Brook Community Group, which is run by Cllr Davidson, pick up litter as part of their Community Spring Clean event.


Women’s World Day of Prayer service held at St Helen’s Church

On Friday 3rd March, Southend West MP, Sir David Amess, attended this years’ service for Women’s World Day of Prayer. The interdenominational service was organised by the Christian Women of The Philippines and took place at St Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westcliff.


Local schools perform at Southend Makes Music 2017 concert

The sixth Southend Makes Music concert series took place recently – running from 27th February to 2nd March. Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, attended the showcase on Thursday 2nd March which featured performances from a mixture of different primary and secondary schools in Southend.
