Southend West MP joins local dignitaries at 100th Birthday celebration

On Friday 12th July, Sir David Amess was delighted to join with the Mayor of Southend-on-Sea in celebrating the 100th Birthday of local resident, Charles Benford.

The centenarian was joined by over 20 members of his family to mark the landmark birthday. During the afternoon, many photos displaying some of Charles’ greatest achievements were shown on a projector.

British citizens receive a card from the Queen on their 100th birthday.

Following the event, Sir David said “Congratulations to Charles on his 100th birthday. It has been an absolute honour for me to attend this celebration and spend time talking about his wealth of experience. Thank you to all of those individuals who continue to support Charles and make sure that he is still able to enjoy all that life has to offer.”
