To mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, Essex Concert Orchestra put on a fantastic performance at Mill Hall.
Entitled ‘One Small Step for Man’, the evening’s music included Holst’s The Planets and well known pieces such as the theme music of Star Trek. Joined by local choir ‘Cantare’, the Concert Orchestra demonstrated outstanding musical capabilities, along with genuine passion and enjoyment.
Essex Concert Orchestra is made up of some of the top musicians from in and around Essex. Performing 3 or 4 concerts each year, the group is not-for-profit and has donated significant sums of money to organisations such as the RNLI and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Following the event, Sir David Amess MP said “It has been an absolute pleasure to listen to the Essex Concert Orchestra and Cantare tonight. I am sure that there have been events throughout the UK, if not the world, to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and I cannot think of a better tribute than through music – the truly universal language.”
