Southend NHS to receive funding injection

Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is to benefit from part of a multi-million pound funding injection.

As part of the Government’s commitment to improve screening and early diagnosis of cancer, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has announced that 78 trusts will receive additional CT and MRI scanners. Southend Hospital will be receiving one new CT scanner and one new MRI scanner.

Following the announcement, Sir David said “I welcome the news that Southend Hospital will receive two brand new scanners. Clinicians work so hard to support people who have, or might be at risk of having, cancer: this commitment will help them to hopefully save lives.”

James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East said “It is vital cancers are caught as early as possible and these new, modern machines will play an important role in doing just that. I’m pleased Southend is benefiting from the Conservatives’ record funding boost for our NHS.”
