Southend MP supports Mental Health Charter

On Tuesday 29th October, Sir David Amess MP hosted a Parliamentary event to support a Child Mental Health Charter. 1 in 8 children currently have at least one mental health disorder: the charter seeks to improve mental health services for children.

The charter welcomes plans to focus on the needs of children to ensure their concerns are heard but calls for more support for children and their parents, allowing them to help support their children more effectively.

The charter also calls for more investment in training to ensure any individual who works therapeutically with children is properly qualified and registered.

Following the event, Sir David said "I congratulate Play Therapy UK for this charter as they seek to help children suffering with mental health challenges. This is a very important issue and I hope to see more awareness for children's mental health in future policy."
