On Monday 6th January, Sir David Amess posted a video on his Twitter in which he spoke about the environment. He said that during the election campaign in Southend West, a number of people asked his view on this important matter, to which he responded “I want to do everything I possibly can to preserve the environment we already have, improve it and enhance it”.
Sir David went on to praise veteran broadcaster Sir David Attenborough, and the important role that many of his programmes have played in pushing this issue to the top of the agenda.
The Queen’s Speech in December 2019 outlined a number of proposals which will contribute towards the world-leading target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Sir David concludes his video by committing that he will play his “full part” in protecting our environment for future generations.
