On Friday 6th April, Sir David Amess MP joined Tesco as their Prince Avenue store turned pink to support Cancer Research UK's Race for Life.
As part of the nationwide charity weekend, Tesco colleagues and charity volunteers were fundraising for Cancer Research UK. Visitors were also given the opportunity to find out more about how to sponsor or join one of the local Race for Life events, including the 5K in Garon Park this May.
Tesco has been supporting the Race for Life for 18 years, and all the money raised goes toward vital research into over 200 types of cancer that affect men, women and children.
Sarah Pickersgill, Head of Events Marketing for Cancer Research UK, added: “We are very grateful for the support of Sir David and the Tesco team in Southend as their store Turns Pink this weekend. By joining the Race for Life, everyone can make a real difference to people with cancer, right now.
“Race for Life events are fun, colourful and uplifting. Taking part in the events enables like-minded people to get together and remember loved ones lost to cancer or celebrate the lives of those who have survived.
