On the 9th July, Sir David joined the Alzheimer Society at their photo exhibition ‘Dementia Care: The Crisis Behind Closed Doors’.
The Alzheimer Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, working endlessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for the condition. The society provides information, support and training to anyone who needs assistance, as they work to create a society which better understands and treats dementia.
70% of men and women residing in care homes have dementia.
Sir David listened to the experiences and life stories of those present at the event and discussed how best to support those with dementia at both a local and national level.
Sir David said “The Alzheimer’s Society is an organisation which undertakes important work throughout the UK. I know of so many families that have been challenged by dementia, and today’s event was a valuable opportunity to consider what more can be done to support individuals suffering with the condition, and their carers.”
