On the weekend of 13th- 14th July, Sir David travelled to Tirana in Albania to attend the International Conference of the National Council of Resistance in Iran.
Global tensions have been heightened in recent weeks following naval activity in the region. These further developments do not detract from the complexities of Nazanin Zagharri-Ratcliffe's case, and the Iranian government’s refusal to release her.
Since its founding in 1981, the NCRI has continually proposed an alternative future for Iran. At the conference, attended by delegates from around the world, Sir David spoke about how important it is that International Superpowers recognise the fragile state of internal Iranian relations at this present time.
On his return to the UK, Sir David said “It was a privilege to attend the NCRI conference in Tirana. I have had the opportunity to speak to a number of people with a real insight into the country’s history, and a positive dream of what can be achieved in the future."
