On Friday 4 September, MP for Southend West, Sir David Amess made a special visit to a local lifeguard's club recently to present them with some emergency equipment.
Sir David took the time out of his busy schedule to visit Chalkwell Lifeguards Club based at Chalkwell Beach, Southend-on-Sea, Essex in order to present the volunteers there with an emergency life saving defibrillator.
The emergency equipment was very kindly gifted to the club by an anonymous donor and will hopefully go some way to helping save the lives of people who may need it along the seafront at Chalkwell.
Commenting Sir David said: "I was delighted to meet the Chalkwell lifeguard volunteers today and hear about the fantastic work that they are doing. My thanks go to all the lifeguards who give up their time to make sure that people can enjoy our beaches safely."
