Sir David Joins World Book Day at Reception in Parliament

Southend West MP Sir David Amess attended the World Book Day reception in the Palace of Westminster on Tuesday 12 June. The event, which also featured the Booksellers Association and the Publishers Association, stressed the importance of books and reading, especially for young people.

Sir David agreed that encouraging children to take up reading will set them up for success in life, and was glad to see many organisations supporting this endeavour – like the charity World Book Day. The local MP learned further how this charity works in schools to encourage pleasure reading outside of the classroom.
