Sir David asks for debate on rights of British Citizens

On Thursday 3rd October, Sir David Amess MP asked the Leader of the House of Commons for a debate on the rights of British Citizens who are being held in foreign prisons.

The case of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has received a significant level of publicity and the UK Government is working at the highest level to resolve the case.

At a recent constituency surgery, Mr Sandhu approached Sir David and asked for his assistance. Sir David, as the Leader of the House noted, has already taken a number of steps to support Mr Sandhu. The Leader provided a detailed answer to his request, the details of which can be found on Hansard.

Sir David has committed to work closely with Mr Sandhu and the UK Government to bring this case to a resolution as soon as possible.
