Portrait honour for Town Mayor

Sir David Amess was delighted to attend the unveiling of a portrait of Beryl Schofield, former Mayor of Southend, at Porters on Monday 12th February. The Mayor of Southend, Judith McMahon hosted a reception for Beryl’s family, including her two daughters Louise and Phoebe, who were very proud to see her picture take pride of place in a building that Beryl loved.

Sir David said:

“Beryl Schofield was a wonderful Mayor of Southend and her sense of humour and positive attitude made her a much loved figure in Southend life. I am so glad to see her honoured in this way and I am sure future Mayors will be encouraged to follow her example of dedicated service to our community by seeing her happy smile every day.”
