Sir David Amess MP joined 100 apprentices from some of the UK's leading aerospace, defence and space companies at the ADS Parliamentary Reception on Wednesday 15th May.
Organised by the trade organisation ADS and Collins Aerospace, the event celebrated the successes of over 12,000 apprenticeships provided by aerospace and defence industries. Highlighting many of the world-leading technologies that apprentices have been working on, MPs heard about the valuable contribute apprentices make to our high-skill manufacturing industries.
Sir David said 'I was delighted to welcome so many apprentices to the House of Commons. The reception was an excellent opportunity to meet young people working towards highly-skilled and rewarding careers, and to celebrate the huge talent of those young people working in these sectors. These apprentices are great ambassadors for the UK's world leading manufacturing industries.'
ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said 'The UK's aerospace, defence, security and space industries contribute over £30 billion to our economy, and apprentices play a key role in businesses, large and small. Today's Parliamentary reception is a great opportunity to celebrate their success, and the chance for MPs to hear about the exciting career opportunities available. A modern apprenticeship is the route to a high value and long-term career.'
