Leigh Salvation Army Celebrates 117 Years

On Saturday 27th April, Sir David Amess MP joined the Leigh-on-Sea Salvation Army Corps to celebrate 117 years of Ministry and community engagement.

The occasion also saw the official re-opening of the newly re-furbished church and community centre in Glendale Gardens. Addressing the re-opening was Lieutenant Colonel Dean Pallant, the Secretary of Communications for the Salvation Army. The ceremony also offered a chance to welcome the new Minister for the Corps, Major Jacquie Hanover.

Sir David, joined by Southend's Mayor Derek Jarvis, said 'I was delighted to join the Salvation Army to mark their anniversary in Leigh, and the outstanding work they do in the local community. Congratulations to all involved in re-furbishing the premises, and I look forward to working closely with the Corps in the future.'
