Christmas lights across Leigh-on-Sea and Southend were switched on at the annual Leigh Lights events on Friday 30th November.
The event this year, sponsored by Stibbards & Sons, was marked by the annual Yuletide Parade through Kings Road and Leigh Road. A number of local organisations joined the parade with their own floats. Raising money for their chosen charities. Sir David Amess MP and Southend Mayor Derek Jarvis joined in the festivities on the parade route on a float sponsored by Rossi’s Ice Cream.
Sir David said ‘It’s always wonderful to see Leigh lit up with the Christmas illuminations every year, and events like this are a fantastic way to bring the community together. The light switch-on marks the beginning of a busy local festive calendar. I wish everyone a very happy Christmas, and I hope to see many people at all the wonderful local events this holiday period.’
