Following the Government’s commitment to recruit an additional 20,000 Police Officers in the UK, figures have been released outlining the first wave recruitment targets.
Essex Police is set to recruit an additional 135 officers in the first section of the programme, with further commitments to be made in the coming years. The announcement comes following a meeting between Sir David and the Home Secretary, and a separate discussion between the Southend West MP and the Chief Constable of Essex Police.
Speaking about the announcement, Sir David Amess said “I very much look forward to seeing the new officers in our community once they have completed their training. It is encouraging that this recruitment drive will be sustained over a number of years.”
