Today (19th March) Sir David attended a meeting in Parliament organised by Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris to discuss dementia support services in Essex.
Southend, Castle Point and Rochford Dementia Action Alliance brings people living with dementia, their carers, services and organisations together to enable people to live well with dementia.
Southend Borough Council commissions a number of services for people with dementia and their carers and are working in partnership with health services, GP’s and voluntary agencies to increase the diagnosis rates in the Borough, ensuring people receive the appropriate information and support at a time best for them to make decisions and access the services they need.
Sir David said: “Dementia is a devastating disease that affects not only those who have it but their friends and family. I was pleased to learn today of the wonderful services provided by the Southend, Castle Point and Rochford Dementia Action Alliance and I am proud to be a dementia friendly MP”.
