Sir David Amess spreads festive cheer with annual Christmas visits

On Friday 14th December, the Southend West MP spread joined in the festivities across the constituency with his annual Christmas visits. Starting the day dressed as Santa Claus, the MP surprised the children at Southend Hospital Children’s Ward and Fair Havens Hospice with presents and toys.

Local MP joins in Christmas celebrations across Southend

Sir David Amess MP joined in the festivities at Christmas events across Southend this weekend. The MP started the busy festive period on Thursday 6th December by attending the lighting of the Christmas tree outside Southend Borough Council.

Southend Mencap holds special Christmas Concert

On Friday 7th December, the Southend Mencap held their annual Christmas concert. Sir David Amess MP and Southend Mayor Cllr Derek Jarvis joined the celebrations at Highlands Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea.


Leigh lights up for Christmas

Christmas lights across Leigh-on-Sea and Southend were switched on at the annual Leigh Lights events on Friday 30th November.


Leigh Road Baptist Church celebrates 125 years

On Sunday 25th November, Sir David joined the congregation of Leigh Road Baptist Church to celebrate their 125th anniversary. The special service was addressed by the Rev. Jonathan Edwards, former General Secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

Plaque unveiled in honour of NSPCC founder

On Tuesday 20th November, Sir David Amess MP unveiled a plaque to commemorate the burial place of the founder of the NSPCC. The plaque in Sutton Road Cemetery pays tribute to the Reverend Benjamin Waugh, who lived in Southend towards the end of his life.
