UK-Philippine Ambassador to visit Southend

Following an invitation from Sir David Amess MP, the Philippines Ambassador to the UK will visit Southend-on-Sea to learn more about the town and its Filipino community.

I was much saddened to learn of Julian’s death. He had borne his illness with immense courage. It was most humbling to meet and see him talking about his illness, with not so much as a shred of bitterness. Nevertheless, the town has lost a first-class public servant.

Southend West MP joins in Tamil New Year Celebrations

Sir David Amess joined in the celebrations of the Tamil New Years and Harvest festival at a special event on Sunday 13th January. Organised by the Southend Tamil Association, the event brought together communities to celebrate the Pongal festival.

As the House of Commons rose for the Christmas recess, Sir David spoke in the final debate in Parliament before the New Year. In the annual Christmas Adjournment debate on Thursday 20th December, Sir David raised a variety of local and national issues.
