Leigh Road Baptist Church celebrates 125 years

On Sunday 25th November, Sir David joined the congregation of Leigh Road Baptist Church to celebrate their 125th anniversary. The special service was addressed by the Rev. Jonathan Edwards, former General Secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

Plaque unveiled in honour of NSPCC founder

On Tuesday 20th November, Sir David Amess MP unveiled a plaque to commemorate the burial place of the founder of the NSPCC. The plaque in Sutton Road Cemetery pays tribute to the Reverend Benjamin Waugh, who lived in Southend towards the end of his life.

Southend West MP celebrates local poetry book launch

Sir David Amess MP celebrated the launch of a newly published poetry book by Essex resident Sue Lesser. At the launch, on Sunday 18th November, the book was revealed and sold in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Sir David Amess MP joins Coastguard on watch

The Southend West MP joined National Coastwatch volunteers on shift at the Shoeburyness Watch Station on 2nd November. The Watch Station covers the Thames Estuary and the Shoeburyness East Beach area, and helps ensure the safety of all users of the coast.


MP supports local businesses at Southend Growth Hub

Sir David Amess MP visited the BEST Growth Hub, to find out about how they are supporting and funding local businesses in Southend. The MP visited the Hub in the Hive Enterprise Centre on Monday 29th October.
