Former WHSG Head Celebrates 90th Birthday

Local MP Sir David Amess joined Nancy Howard to celebrate her birthday on Sunday 6th May at Iveagh Hall in Leigh-on-Sea. Nancy, a former Headteacher at Westcliff High School for Girls, was also joined by family and friends on the day to mark her special occasion.

Sir David asks Housing Minister about New Home being built

In the House of Commons chamber on Monday 30th April, Southend West MP Sir David Amess asked Housing Minister Dominic Raab about the Government’s plans to deliver more homes.


Sir David said:


“What progress his Department has made on delivering more new homes.”

Supporting a Nature Recovery Network

Sir David pledged his support for the creation of a Nature Recovery Network this week. A well-designed network of places for nature which links up green spaces and protected areas in our towns, cities and countryside would have positive benefits for both people and our wildlife.


Sir David joins CPA Secretary-General at Commonwealth Service

Southend West MP Sir David Amess joined the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Akbar Khan, at a special multi-faith and multi-cultural service at Chelmsford Cathedral. The service was held to mark the founding of the Commonwealth and its past, present and future.

Eastwood Chorale Hold Spring Concert

On Saturday 28th April, Sir David attended a performance of the classic Carmina Burana by Eastwood Chorale in collaboration with Southend Choral Society.


The concert, which was held to celebrate the beginning of spring, took place at Westcliff High School for Boys.

MP Attends Induction Service of New Vicar

An induction service was held for a new vicar in Leigh-on-Sea on Saturday 28th April. Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, attended the service for Rev Andrew Cowley at Leigh Road Baptist Church to mark the new minister’s induction into the church.
