Sir David backs Bowel Cancer UK's campaign for early diagnosis

Sir David has pledged his support to Bowel Cancer UK’s campaign for early diagnosis, and better access to treatment and care. On Wednesday 30th January, the MP met with clinicians and bowel cancer survivors to hear what more can be done to raise awareness, treat early and save lives. 

Contactless bus payments launched in Southend

On Friday 25th January Arriva Southend launched their new contactless payment services on all buses in Southend and the surrounding area. Sir David Amess MP was joined by fellow local MP James Duddridge in the unveiling of the new system.

 

Sir David speaks out for better training, treatment and research for M.E

On Thursday 25th January, Sir David joined MPs from all parties in a landmark debate on M.E in the House of Commons. The Southend West MP spoke of the urgent need for investment in better training, treatment and research to transform the lives of those living with the condition.

To mark Cervical Cancer Prevention Week Sir David added his support to the #SmearforSmear campaign and urged all women to get the potentially life-saving test done.

I was much saddened to learn of Julian’s death. He had borne his illness with immense courage. It was most humbling to meet and see him talking about his illness, with not so much as a shred of bitterness. Nevertheless, the town has lost a first-class public servant.
