David Amess joins campaign against dog meat

Reflecting the strong support for animal welfare issues in Southend West and his own personal concern over animal cruelty, David Amess MP is supporting an Early Day Motion condemning the illegal dog meat trade in the Philippines. The commercial trading of dog meat has risen to unprecedented levels in the country, with approximately 500,000 dogs slaughtered annually, even though the eating of dog meat was banned in 1998. UK animal welfare group Network for Animals is urging the British government to offer support and advice to ensure that animal protection laws are enforced and the dog meat trade is finally stamped out.
